How to Stand Out in Network Marketing

stand out in network marketingWith millions of people in the Network Marketing industry – you HAVE to stand out from the crowd if you want people to see you and what you have to offer.

But how do you do that when you are new to all of this?

When you first get started with a Network Marketing company, it’s possible that you are given a Company replicated website to promote that may have a little bit of information on it about both the business opportunity and/or the products and you are able to “tailor” it with your own name and contact details.

Usually this is just one or two pages and is used by every single affiliate in the Company.

So how would you be able to “stand out” from the rest of the people promoting that – in other words why would people join YOU?

Well that is the million dollar question and to be fair it has tons of answers to it.

The key really is to decide WHO you are, WHAT you stand for, and brand yourself accordingly rather than branding your business.  So that’s the first point, but there are so many facets to branding that I believe it is not necessarily essential when you first get started.

Here’s what I would recommend.

I still think you need to decide who you want to be in your business and what you stand for – that’s definitely important.  For example – my “brand” has (for the last year or so) been about cutting through all the hype online and becoming the “go to” person for “clarity without overwhelm” when building your business online.

But think about what made you want to join a home business – was it for more freedom to do what you want, like traveling?  Or was it to be a stay at home Mom?  Or was it because you are looking to top up your pension or escape your Corporate job?   Whatever it is – you can help others exactly like YOU.

Secondly you might think that your best “target market” for your business is “everyone” but that would be a big mistake.

If you market to “everyone” then in fact you are marketing to “no-one” – so some really good advice here is to pick one type of person (hint the best and easiest first target is people exactly like YOU because you understand them!!) and then to focus your messaging and marketing around that person.

Thirdly – if you are building a business and want to use the internet to promote your business then you need to have a unique capture page or sales page.  Something that shares a little bit about YOU.

    Great post, Nicky. I’m a student of Dan Kennedy, one of the best marketers in the world. One of the most important lessons he taught me was to be different. You have to look at what everyone else is doing and do the opposite. You must clearly be able to determine what makes you different and WHY should people do business with you and not a competitor. This advice has proven very valuable to me through the years, in several different businesses. Every business needs a unique selling proposition and crystal clear target market. This is one thing that most network marketers put very little thought into. Hopefully, your post will help them move past that problem.

    Great content as always. I’ve been a fan of yours for several years, even though we’ve never met or connected. All the best.
