Article Marketing Tips for Newbies
By NickySo you’ve discovered Attraction Marketing (and if you don’t know what I mean by that then read my article here on Attraction Marketing) and now you are taking action on one of the suggestions which was to write an article to show your expertise.
Easier said than done? Not at all when you know how!
Here are some Article Marketing Tips to help you and some free training.
Firstly congratulations on taking action and if you are new to this, then I have put together some simple article marketing tips for you to ensure that your articles are ready to be “found” by the search engines. In my next article, we will continue with the Article Marketing tips and go in to how you can ensure that your beautifully crafted articles actually get read, by the people who you want to read them.
So the first thing to remember when you’re writing an article is that you want to be giving value to your prospect. Remember you are trying to “draw” people to you with your knowledge, so you need to be sharing information that is going to be genuinely useful for them. So here’s my best article marketing tips for you:
Article marketing Tips- Tip 1
Once you have decided what your article is going to be about, then you need to do some simple keyword research to find out what keywords to use in your article. Keywords are simply the words that people will use to search for what you have to offer and then the search engines return the best articles or websites that match the keywords.
For example if I was searching for a red dress – I would probably type in “Red Dress” into a search engine. But I may want to be more specific and say “Red Dress with Belt” and then I may be even more specific and say “Buy Red Dress with Belt from Online Store in UK”.
So by typing in the last phrase, I am being VERY specific about what I want and therefore the search engines are going to do their best to find a website or article or video (or ANY web content) where those keywords are used.
You can decide how targeted you want your keyword or phrase to be by checking the competition. For example if you are targeting a high competition keyword like “network marketing leads” then you may need to be more targeted and go for a longer phrase (or “long tailed keyword).
You can use the free Google Keyword tool – simply search in Google for free Keyword Tool
Article Marketing Tips – Tip 2
Once you have selected your keyword you need to ensure that you put it in the H1 tag, H2 tag and H3 tag in your blog post, in your article title and also in your first and last sentence. If you’re not sure how to do this, then just get hold of a plugin called SEOPressor which shows you exactly how to ensure your article is fully optimized.
Article Marketing Tips – Tip 3
Select a picture to go with your article – something that is cute, funny or just a picture of what your article is about – do keep it relevant and when you select your picture be sure to upload it and tag it with your keyword too. Bear in mind that people do love to click on pictures so if you have a related “money” page then it is a good idea to link it here.
For example if I was doing an article about SEOPressor (the wordpress plugin I mentioned earlier) then I would grab a picture of the plugin and link it to my affiliate link. I hope that makes sense.
Article Marketing Tips – Tip 4
Always finish your article with a clear call to action, so that your reader knows what to do. For example if you are new to blogging, then you will want your content shared – so ask people to do that and ensure that you have the relevant social plugins on your blog for them to do that. If you are doing an article to promote a free giveaway then obviously make sure you have the form or opt in at the end of the post.
Publish your article to your blog and notify your friends on Facebook or other social networks about what you have just written about, explaining who it will help and how, and leave a link.
Article Marketing Tips – Tip 5
Syndicate your post. If you are a member of any network marketing or online marketing groups in Facebook then be sure to post your link with a comment about who it is going to help – be sure to leave comments on other people’s posts too as they will be more likely to do the same for you too. Join a syndication service like TribePro to get your content out much faster.

Hi Nicky,
Super tips, I like the note about the picture.
We think through the senses in most cases. Eye candy is attention grabbing, and an under-utilized aspect of article marketing or SEO. Optimize your article by including a neat, clever, pic which causes readers to stop, and take notice. The simple practice leads to many more calls to action.
Thanks!

Hi Nicky!
You are dead on with these steps. I favor the last one: A call to action! It is great for newbies but also for some people who are doing it without that call to action. I see it many times. Thanks for this information.

Hi Donna
Yes I do too and whilst it is okay occasionally – more often than not, it is better and more powerful to tell your reader what you would like them to do – even if it is just to share the post on the social networks. Thanks for stopping by and commenting,

Great tips there. Article marketing is very powerful and can both drive traffic to your site/blog and also boost your search engine position – as long as you put the right anchor text in your author bio.
Most people find their way to Ezine Articles of course, which is fine – they are, even post-Panda, very good. Submitting to more than one directory will help to increase your linking diversity and boost your search engine position even more rapidly.

Hi Nicky Long time no speak ..keep seeing you on facebook but we never seem to catch up…OK that said I love the tips the tribe pro is a good place for bloggers to get some awesome juice, but I think the one that has let me down in the past is weak call to action…That was in the past I found a really good book called Hypnotic Writing By Joe Vitale Of the Secret fame .
Hey Nicky before I go what is your anti spam check box plug-in called ?

Hi Graham, thanks for your kind comments – yes a good call to action is imperative, but it must be appropriate to what the blog post was about!
I have heard of that book, but I haven’t read it so I would be interested in your opinion of it when you have read it – has it changed the way you write your posts?
The anti-spam plugin I use is part of the CommentLuv Premium plugin.
