Hmmm interesting question isn’t it?

So what do you think?  Do you think knowledge gives you the sort of power that can then lead to wealth?

All is not what it may seem (just like the picture……)

Well I first read this concept in “Think and Grow Rich” about a year ago, but was reminded of that “aha” moment I had when reading about this topic when I was listening to a Ray Higdon audio whilst I was out for a run this morning.

(See I know some people can do a quick training video whilst out for their run, but frankly I don’t have any breath left in my body to speak when I go for a run!!  So I like to listen to a training instead !!)

You see all through school we are taught that knowledge is powerful.  So then to get even more powerful and to get a better paid job, we then go on to college and learn some more stuff.

But does it get you to true wealth and power?

Well not necessarily……..

Now I’m not saying that you shouldn’t do this, because studying at something is good for the brain and is training your mind to accept and store new information.

But it WON’T lead to wealth unless you become very specific with what you are learning and then organize it towards the attainment of wealth.

Here’s what I mean.   You all know the person who can answer every question in the bar quizzes, or in the Trivial Pursuit games – but are they the wealthy ones?

You possibly also know the incredibly knowledgable college or school professor who was so intelligent that he knew his subject inside out.

But have you ever seen a truly wealthy school or college professor?

Probably not.  So why is that?

Well there are two main reasons for it.

1)  The information needed to win a Trivial Pursuit game or a pub quiz is too generic and not ‘organized’ or specific enough to give above average knowledge of a particular topic

2)  or in the case of the professors who do have above average knowledge of their topic – there is no plan of action to put the knowledge to work towards accumulating wealth

You see you have to apply what you know and put it to work for you towards the accumulation of the goal of wealth and power.

So lets apply this to a more familiar business model i.e online affiliate or network marketing because most people who join this sort of business model are wanting to accumulate wealth wouldn’t you agree?

Yet if you look all over Facebook or in your inbox you are looking at what amounts to nothing more than spam as people shout out (by using CAPITAL LETTERS!!**@@!! ) that you can earn gazillions of dollars by having a ready built downline all done for you.  (So why do they need you??)

Where is the knowledge there?

So my first point is that in order to truly stand out (for all the right reasons) you need to acquire some specialised knowledge in your industry.  (Which means improving your knowledge by learning either through audios, videos or books).

But this where I see so many people get confused about how to truly direct and organize their learning.

Because although the internet has brought with it SO many opportunties for us to reach out and connect to so many people around the world – it has also brought us millions and millions of pages of information.

And unless you have a clear idea of what information you want to learn and organize to produce wealth, then you run the risk of information overload.

Which then leads to overwhelm

Which then leads to paralysis in your business and failure to take action and acquire the goal of wealth and power in your industry.

So what can you do about it?

Well I wrote some tips on how to avoid information overload on this blog post ==>
But essentially:

1) Be clear about what skill or knowledge you wish to obtain

2) If you are confused as to where to start, then seek out a mentor who is already doing what you want to do and either join them in their business or seek out some coaching

3) Unsubscribe from all non-essential email subscriptions

4) Only listen to webinars or trainings on the specific topic you are wishing to learn.

5) Become an expert at your chosen topic and just understand that you do NOT need to learn all the marketing strategies around.

6) Apply what you have learned to a suitable business or marketing plan that is going to get you the best returns

7)  Apply the 80/20 rule to your business of 20% learning and 80% putting what you have learned into action

8) Give yourself measurable goals to achieve – tweak and improve your marketing skills as you go, but do NOT wait for all the circumstances to be “just right” before taking action.

9)  Do NOT wait until you have become an expert before you start because there will always be something new to learn.

So therefore knowledge is not necessarily power and wealth – it only becomes so when it is organized knowledge that is then put into a plan of action to take towards wealth.

But it’s all changed……

Since the onset of the internet, social media sites and every available gadget you can think of the kids are either getting engrossed in “gaming” OR if they have a bit of an entrepreneurial spirit, then they see that there is good money to be made on the internet if they could just figure it out.

So when I went to Chicago this week for the Empower Network “conference” (I hate that word as it sounds so stuffy!) it was a joy to see a good few young people amongst the 5,000 or so people there.

But what was even more exciting was when I went into the private top 200 VIP event just before the main event started.   You see by qualifiying in the top 200 affiliates (out of about 130,000 at the moment) you are invited to have a private “meet and greet” with the two co-founders of Empower Network David Wood and David Sharpe and you get to meet the other top achievers in the Company (which is exactly where you want to be by the way!).

So it was great to see a couple of very young people in the top 200 too.

These guys were college kids, and it was so great to see them embracing the personal development side of the business we’re in.

You see I didn’t know (at that age) that I had a deep rooted desire to be an entrepreneur.  I just knew that when everyone was going off in the rush hour to work, I wanted to be on the beach.  Oh I didn’t mind working – I just wanted to do it when I didn’t have to sit on crowded trains or busy roads.

I had this incredible desire to be free.

Like there had to be a better way for me than to just work all my life and then live off a small pension.

And that’s all that seemed to be on offer.

Fast forward to now and my mind and my heart has been opened to such an amazing course of personal development thanks to the home business industry.  A world that I would probably have never come across had I not had my children and had my first taste of freedom away from work.

Because that’s when I KNEW that I never wanted to go back into a stuffy office ever again.  And after 6 years of searching for the right “vehicle” to get me where I wanted to be – I came across the Empower Network.

Are you quite literally “selling the dream, but living the nightmare?”

That’s an expression that I heard in one of our trainings the other day and it really struck home with me.

Because that’s exactly how I felt this time last year when I was getting measly $15 commissions per sign up from one business and from another I didn’t get anything until I had signed up 3 people and then after that only when they were active with a very costly autoship.

I was burned out.  Exhausted from trying to fit it all in as a busy Mum with another job too.

Pure Leverage Review | Why You May Not Need It!

You know when I first heard that GVO (who have been going a while now) were relaunching their Auto responder with a few other tools and launching 100% commissions on their products I thought – oh no, here we go again.  Just another Company just trying to jump on the band wagon of the success that the Empower Network has gained.

But of course you HAVE to take a look don’t you…….

I mean “getting in at the ground floor”  (LOL what does that really MEAN??!!).   I’ve seen so many launches hailed as the next big thing and “position yourself now” for the best position to earn maximum income……. Yada yada yada.  3 Months later and you never hear from the reps who were promoting it or WORSE you see an apparent “guru” level marketer try and back away from the fact they were ever promoting it.

Hysterical.

Yeah – here it comes.

Why You Really May NOT Need Pure Leverage tools in your business.

Well you might not want to follow up with your prospects via an auto-responder (but do you realise that pretty much all sales of products or services online are made between the 4th – 12th exposure of it?) and you may not want to hold team training webinars and send video emails.

Okay okay……. so you’re a budding leader and maybe you DO want to do that (which you should!!) so lets hear the real problems with the system.

Well of course you have to know how to market it…… which makes it fall into the same category as every other online business out there.

Or does it.
