So a couple of days ago we went through the Marketing Funnel and I explained how the  statement the “money is in the list” has a flaw and should really be replaced with “the money is in the relationship you have with your list”.  If you didn’t read it, you can find it here:  Marketing Funnel.

So here’s how to create a marketing funnel that is not going to give you more “unsubscribes” than “subscribes”.

How to Create the Perfect Marketing Funnel

So of course to create the perfect marketing funnel, you need to have at least one (but preferably multiple products at different price levels.

(If you don’t have your own product yet, then this doesn’t matter, I will show you how to create your marketing funnel using someone else’s product further on).

If your higher ticket (priced) product is a manual or CD course showing people exactly what they need to do in order to achieve online or MLM success, then in your value packed emails to them, you should be giving them a taster of what they will get if they buy the course – but DON’T offer the purchase of your course or manual until you have given them plenty of great emails.

If you’re worried that the whole of your course or manual will be gone in the emails, then this is what to do.

Identify the problem you are going to solve for your subscriber and give your follow up email an enticing title that is related to your topic.  Discuss the problem in greater detail for your prospect so that they really relate to what you’re talking about.  Then tell them the solution (YES REALLY!).  TELL them exactly what they need to do to solve the problem, but DON’T necessarily tell them exactly HOW to do it!  My friend Joyce Penner describes this as “giving them the candy wrapper, but not the candy!

In the first couple of emails, don’t put any links to ANYTHING that involves a sale – just put a link at the end of your email (after your signature, which should include all your contact details) to your own personal website (about you) where your subscribers can check you out if they want to.

Then in the third or fourth email add a P.S at the bottom of your email after your signature.  Tell your subscriber that to find out how to do the task  (whatever it was you were talking about in your email) with full step by step tutorials then take a look at your product and include a link to your landing (sales) page and continue to do this in your subsequent emails.

By putting the link in your P.S and NOT in the main body text, you are NOT selling to them;  you are casually INVITING them to take a look to check you out further if they value what you are giving them.  You are GIVING first and not asking for anything – Do you see the difference?

When you have got through some of your emails (about 8 or 9) only THEN should you put the full link in the body of your email with the “call to action”.

So how does the new marketer create the perfect marketing funnel when they don’t have anything to “sell”.

Remember – WHATEVER business you are in, to build the perfect marketing funnel, you need to be “branding yourself” as a leader and an expert, and in order to BE a leader and an expert in your field, then it takes time, effort and ongoing education  on your part.
