So in the “old” days  – (and I use that term loosely as I refuse to believe that I was born in the “old” days despite what my children think! ) – the ‘entrepreneurial’ kids were washing cars or bikes to earn a bit of extra pocket money.  The true entrepreneurs (like the young Richard Branson) were fixing bikes and selling them for a profit or even renting them out.

Just before the year ends, I thought I would share  my three biggest “aha” or “lightbulb” moments of 2012 as I think they may help you too.  And also that  despite the  sadness that invaded my personal life this year, that something good can come out of it.

You see I can relate to so many of you who are struggling right now and this year, I managed to break down a couple of things that were really holding me back which you may relate to too.

So back to this time last year –  the end of 2011 and the beginning of 2012.  It always seems to bring new hope doesn’t it and seems a time when we assess what we are doing and how far we came in the previous year.  For many it is a wake-up call to action.

For me, at the beginning of 2012, I knew I had everything in place to take my business into the six figure a year income bracket  and yet I was still earning just a few hundred dollars a month.

I knew there was a piece missing to my business.  Do you ever feel like that, but you’re not quite sure what it is?

Then an email came out of the blue from a top marketer whom I respect and it really felt like he was writing just to me………

He was talking about why it is so important to have the ‘right’ belief about money.  I was intrigued.  I mean we all know that we need money don’t we and so we always know that we need more.  What’s not to know about it?

First lesson learned – Mindset is absolutely key to your success. – If you have any inkling that you may be holding yourself back with your belief about money, your business or your chances of success, then trust me you need to work on your mindset. 
Ever heard the saying “If you think you can, or you think you can’t, you’re right”  ?
It’s very true – believe that you can do this, and somehow the way to do it will come to you.

Then in January, my family learned some news that was to ruin the year for me.  My Mum was diagnosed with secondary Cancer and we were told we had just a few months left with her.

But just 5 weeks later and I was sitting talking to my Mum who had lapsed into unconsciousness.  I told her I would take care of my Dad and make sure he was okay and my sister too and I gave her a kiss from both of my children whom she adored.  At that moment she turned her head, gave a funny sort of smile and took her last breath.

It was a very sad time as my Dad was naturally in pieces – he had known her for 77 years and had been married to her for 55 years., so my business just had to take a bit of a back seat for the first time whilst I supported my Dad 100 miles away (with no internet connection!).

But something strange happened afterwards – I made some tough decisions with my business and literally ditched everything I did not feel 100% happy with and passionate about, but what did that leave me with?

Nothing very much, that’s what!

A marketing system that had become my main source of online income that was paying me just a few hundred dollars a month that pretty much ran on auto pilot, and a  few affiliate sales a month from some products that I review.

No MLM income .

 Second lesson learned – Finding a business or product or service that you feel truly passionate about is really going to help you with your belief and therefore your mindset.  Belief creates action, action creates momentum, momentum creates results and of course results gives more belief.

So then the Summer came and went – the Olympics right here in London made us feel proud to be British, but I wasted 4 months looking for something that had been sitting right under my nose.

Sometimes you need to take a second look at something that you previously dismissed.

So I joined something that very quickly I got passionate about.  It gave me a new lease of enthusiasm for the reason why I was doing this and I was excited about the possibility of how many people I could help with it, so I started talking about it.

I already knew how to generate leads from my blog and social media, so I just applied this to my new business.

But as I moved into the last quarter of the year, I suddenly started getting attacks of urgency.  Like there was a deadline on my business.

I think I realized that although my business was moving on well and I was building a good team it just seemed to dawn on me that I had wasted far too much time this year, and I needed to ramp things up dramatically if I wanted to leave my job.

I needed to work smarter and not harder.

Third lesson learned – Once you have the belief and the right opportunity for you –then one of the best things you can do is to learn and master some paid marketing strategies.   It can dramatically increase the speed at which you can build a business.

By learning and applying some paid marketing strategies, I became one of the top 7% income earners in my opportunity and in the top 100 out of about 60,000 affiliates in December this year.

So now looking forward to 2013 – I am truly excited about this year because I am now seeing my team members reach the top affiliates board too.

I have a goal for 2013 of helping 5 people to get a 5 figure monthly income in 5 months.

I thought long and hard about whether or not to post this, but my blog is a part of me, my feelings, my beliefs, and what I have learned over the years, but I decided that what happened this last week is also a part of me and will shape my future, so I had to share with my readers.
