An Article Marketing Strategy to Generate Free MLM Leads

By

Article Marketing strategySo in the last few months I have been looking at my blogging and article marketing strategy to see if I can tweak it to generate even more traffic to my blog.

Because if you can convert the traffic to free MLM leads or sales, then you have a business!

Now anyone that knows me, knows that I am not naturally technical, but ultimately if you can show a marketer a simple article marketing strategy to drive some serious traffic to their website for FREE then it’s all good!   The only problems that you might encounter is that the mighty “G”  (i.e Google!) keeps changing their search algorithms, so what works exceptionally well for a few months can literally change overnight.

Google did their latest little change (Penguin they called it!) just this week – did it affect you?….so many marketers have complained that their traffic to their sites was literally wiped away as Google changed how they ranked your website.

Mine was pretty much unaffected, but then I didn’t go in for massive “spammy” backlinks and have always tried to produce quality content for my readers.  This is proven in my blog stats by the “average time onsite” of my visitors, the  “average number of pages read” per visit and the low “bounce” rate.

So here are some tips for a good article marketing strategy that is going to help you get your blog posts ranked on the search engine front pages.

This will get traffic to your website. If you follow these tips, then you can convert the visitors into free MLM leads for your business.

So let’s start today with the blog post you are going to write – literally the first stage of your article marketing strategy.

Uncover the simple 5-step Article Marketing Strategy that could double or even triple your leads

1)      Your content needs to be relevant to your target audience.  Do not try and make your blog appeal to everyone!    When you have brought the traffic to your website, you want people to stay and read it!  Hint: Think about your target market – what are their biggest problems?  Show them a way to fix that problem and you have a scorching hot article for the right prospect.

2)      When you know what you want to write about – make sure your article marketing strategy includes some good keyword research.  You can use the free Google keyword tool to find out what your ideal prospect is searching for that can be the basis for your blog post.

3)      When you have selected your keyword (which could be a phrase) include it in the following places of your blog post :

a)  In the title of your post

b) In your H1 tag, H2 and H3 tag

c) Include an image about what you are writing about and use the “Alt” tag as your keyword

d) Link your keyword or a related keyword to another related article on your blog (so you are linking internally to another post)

e) Use your keyword in your first and last sentence of your post.  (All of this information is displayed and actually gives you  a score if you use this plugin  SEO Pressor – it is not a free plugin but it is worth it’s weight in gold when you are first starting out  and is very reasonably priced!)

4)       Ultimately as a marketer your article marketing strategy is about generating leads or a sale, so make sure you include a clear call to action or an offer in your post that is entirely relevant to what you are writing about.

5)      And of course….make sure you have a way of capturing your prospect’s email address in exchange for the offer or free training/product that you are going to give them.

All very good points! I think the only people who are really hit hard during these Google updates (and complain about it constantly) are the ones who are doing things they shouldn’t have been doing in the first place and finally they got busted. I’m sure some good sites get stuck in the filter, but it pays to be smart about optimizing your site and draw a line between “optimized” and “spammy”.

Good keywords and using them properly are really key to getting listed well. I mean, Google can’t just imagine where you want to be listed, you need to have keywords to tell them!

Link building is also another tricky area because it can backfire if you try to buy up a bunch of links on irrelevant or spammy sites. Even big companies have done this and gotten busted (look what happened to JC Penney not long ago).

Thanks for sharing very realistic and helpful tips that anyone can use – without getting in Google-trouble!

You’re right that there is a fine line in link building because I was taught by a couple of gurus who did use link building software. It didn’t affect me at all with the Google Panda updates, but this time , although my traffic and articles are the same ranking, I noticed Google had reduced my PR quality score which is disappointing, so I have to work to get that back.

For now, I’m sticking with what I know – and what I know is social shares because something going viral, or liked a lot by your peers is much more powerful to the search engines.

    Hey Nicky,

I wanted to stop by and read both of your posts on article marketing since this has been a strategy that I’ve been using for a number of years now. Okay I admit, I haven’t been exactly writing for the search engines but all of that is changing now.

From this moment on I want my posts to be found by those actually searching for what I’m sharing and not just have all my faithful lovely terrific blog followers be the only ones landing on my site. That area will be improved in the coming months as well.

Great tips you’ve shared here and I have a feeling I’ll be investing in that plug-in. I had used something some time back similar to that but it was a monthly service which I didn’t really like. Good to know there is an alternative.

    Off to read part two…

    Hi Adrienne
Yes there comes a point doesn’t there when you think, hang on a minute, it’s all very well everyone landing and making lovely comments on your blog, but if they read, digest, love it and just remain loyal followers, well thats great…….truly great……. but it doesn’t put food on the table.

Ultimately our blog has to pay its way, so although I hear Google loves to see repeat visitors to your blog, you also want to be attracting fresh new people who don’t yet know you and what you can offer them.

In your case, you are a great blogger and a great leader in your business – you just need to get the message out to tell some great new people!!

Thanks for stopping by to both posts Adrienne,
    Nicky

  6. Hi Nicky,

Now, I know a few things about article marketing :) and I can confirm that your steps are great and for anyone knowing may seem even simple and basic, but many people are actually not applying them at all.

Some people are saying that article marketing is not as it used to be, and in a sense it’s true because it’s more “tight” now, so to speak, for the marketer (writer), but if done correctly it will still bring you the right traffic.

By the way, I mentioned you in my last post and linked to one of your recent posts :) Just didn’t know if you knew :)

    Take care :)

    Hi Nicky,
Very good points raised especially on the aspect regarding optimization. I have seen so many people writing articles but missing out on optimizing their articles by adding the H1, H2, H2, the bolds, italics, underlying etc., so that Google can index their articles favourably.

Great post Nicky and I appreciate the short to the point information. Like it all but you captured me on point one when you said, “Do not try and make your blog appeal to everyone!”

I’ve seen blogs with a little of everything thrown in hoping to appeal to someone. Here’s a great story relating to that. A hunter goes out every day and stands on the edge of the woods and shoots several rounds into the woods and says, “sure hope something runs into that.”

    Be inspired.

Haha, love that Geoff, but yes that’s about right isn’t it. I used to make the same mistake myself when I used to go out and post fliers through peoples doors – I used to target “Everyone” with the end result was that nobody felt like I was really talking to “them” .

Ohhhh, glad I don’t do that any more!!
Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment, it is appreciated,

Nicky, this information is so important. Knowing what we can do that doesn’t get us crushed by the penguin is vital to our business. I knew keywords in image captions was important, but didn’t realize the alt tag was also important. What about the title and description for the image? I have seen the place to put that information, but I have always left it blank due to time constraints. Thanks for a great post,
    Val

    Hi Val
Yes the alt tag is probably the most important place to put your exact keyword. The image description and title should really be what the image is so that when html images are not displayed the reader will know what the picture is of.
Quick tip incase you didn’t know – People love to click pictures so always make sure you link your picture to another related post, a capture page or something else that may interest your reader!
    Thanks for stopping by,
